List of 60 Affirmations for Depression

Affirmations aren’t a magic spell. Reciting affirmations doesn’t make depression go away. But they do change our minds. The things we affirm become our default thought habits. I hope you’ll continue to saturate your mind with the word of God and I want to make it easy for you to review these affirmations so here is a concise list of all 60 affirmations from my book, 60 Biblical Affirmations for Depression.

  1. My time of darkness and despair will not go on forever. Isaiah 9:1a

  2. Nothing is too difficult for God. Jeremiah 32:17

  3. God lifts me out of the pit of despair. Psalm 40:2

  4. I never give up because God renews my spirit daily. 2 Corinthians 4:16

  5. When my heart is sad, I remind myself this feeling is temporary and joy will return like the dawn. Psalm 43:5, Psalm 30:5b

  6. God has compassion on me when I feel helpless. Matthew 9:36

  7. God is my comforter in sorrow. Jeremiah 8:18

  8. Even in the darkness of depression, I cannot hide from God. Psalm 139:12

  9. The Lord will work out his plans for my life. Psalm 138:8

  10. I encourage myself with memories of good times. Psalm 42:4

  11. I recall the good things God has done for me in the past. Psalm 77:11, Psalm 103:2

  12. I lift my eyes to God. Psalm 123:1-2a

  42. Even when I walk through the darkest valley of depression, God is close beside me. Psalm 23:4

  43. My depression will disappear as God fills me with joy and gladness. Isaiah 51:11, Esther 9:22

  44. God collects my tears in his bottle. Psalm 56:8

  45. The Lord lifts my head and holds it high. Psalm 3:3

  46. God comforts me when I’m depressed. 2 Corinthians 1:4

  47. God hears my cry. Psalm 40:1

  48. When I begin to sink into depression, I cry out, “Save me, Lord!” Matthew 14:30, Psalm 69:2, 14

  49. God is near me when I am brokenhearted. Psalm 34:18

  50. The Lord renews my strength. Isaiah 40:31

  51. Not even depression can separate me from God’s love. Romans 8:38-39

  52. I let Christ carry my grief and sorrow. Isaiah 53:4

  53. When doubts fill my mind, God’s comfort renews my hope. Psalm 94:19

  56. I encourage myself in the Lord and draw strength from him. 1 Samuel 30:6

  58. When depression leaves me heavy, slow, and fatigued, God strengthens me and helps me. Isaiah 41:10

  59. I have hope because I have God. Ephesians 2:12

  60. I trade my heavy burden for the light burden God gives me. Matthew 11:28-30
